Although traditional Daal Chawal (Rice with fried lentil) has its importance and does beat many moods on various occasions. But I encountered a new generation problem that might be faced by many and it was my husband’s love for chicken and meat.
There is a lot of dishes that go with rice, like chicken jalfrezi, chicken shashlik, even chicken fajita but chicken chili dry has something special for us.
I did try various restaurants while my stay in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and from chicken 65 to chicken chili of Mehran (famous restaurant in Jeddah Al Azizia) to Indian restaurants in Al Sharfiyah and back to Hyderabadi restaurants scattered in Azizia (marvelous Biryani especially on Friday after Friday prayer) but whenever we had chicken chili my husband always feel it must be different and need something else.
That something else took me to explore and we managed to come out with an amazing and must-have dish.
What makes it even special that I got a cash reward from my Husband when he tried it the first time and that was my achievement.
Why it’s different from traditional chicken chili dry?
Dry chilli – the process where garlic and dry chilli get saute together creates a magic aroma like no other. Most restaurants and recipes which I tried to use fresh chilli. I took liberty here to experiment with a few additional ingredients and guess what, it is now a must-have dish whenever we have traditional dry chilli.
So many Chillies but still less Spicy
Exactly, the qty of each ingredient make is so different and balanced. It is balanced in taste, chilis add a great fusion and black pepper in the final step add fuel to fire.
Soft and tender Chicken
The chicken gets fried in the earlier step (not deep-fried) makes the whole dish light. It gets amazing aroma when it gets cooked in the second round with garlic and other sauces.
Chicken Chili Dry
For Chicken Marination
- 450 g Chicken Breast
- 2 tbsp Corn Flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Oil
Chicken Chilli Dry
- 4 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Garlic Chopped
- 3 Whole dried red peppers
- 1 big Onion Chopped
- 1 medium Capsicum
- 1/4 cup Soya Sauce
- 2 tbsp Chilli Sauce
- 1 tsp Black Pepper Crushed
- 2 Green Chillies Chopped
- In a bowl add chicken boneless cubes, salt, oil, cornflour, and mix well, cover, and marinate for 30 minutes.
- In wok heat cooking oil and fry chicken & set aside.
- In a wok add cooking oil, garlic, dry red chilies, and mix well.
- Add chicken cook for two minutes.
- Add onion and capsicum and mix well.
- Now add soya sauce, chili sauce, green chiles, black pepper, and cook until sauce thickens.
- Add green onion leaves, and mix.
- Serve with rice.
