Borek

There are many shapes and sizes of borek, excellent pastries which are found anywhere that were occupied by the Ottoman Empire stunning börek recipe is packed with minced meat and potatoes, but feel free to use feta if you want.

Ingredients

FOR THE FILLING

  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • 400 g Minced Meat
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Crushed
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Cumin (Powder)
  • 2 Potatoes

FOR THE DOUGH

  • 1 cup Lukewarm Water
  • 1/4 Cup Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • As needed Oil

Directions

  1. Mix salt, sugar, oil, in the water, and mix well.
  2. Then mix the flour slowly and knead very well for 5 to 8 minutes.
  3. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Flat the dough and make 8 equal balls out of it.
  5. Brush the balls with oil and lets them rest for more than 15 minutes.
  6. Flatten the balls with the help of hands, place the filling in between, and roll carefully.
  7. Set in the baking tray and bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 200 degrees or until light brown.
  8. Serve hot

FOR THE FILLING

  1. Add 1 tbsp oil in a pan add minced meat and cook for 5 minutes.
  2. Then add red chili powder, crushed chili, salt, and cumin powder.
  3. When all the water dries then add boiled mashed potatoes.
  4. Cook for more than 5 minutes until no oil remains.
  5. Cool at room temperature.
